| Thanks folks, it's been fun to share this space for a season. My life has changed, and I'm moving from Glory to Glory. Driving back from doing town errands yesterday, it hit me that my last post needs to be about a sweet little girl who is no longer with us. I first met this child via her pregnant mother as the grandmother was a neighbor of ours. I was very happy to meet her because to me every pregnancy is to be cherished and nurtured with great gratitude. The grandmother shunned my gift of some copies of Above Rubies, saying it would be condemning to this mom. Within 6 weeks of delivering a beautiful baby girl, the mom went back to work and shuffling baby to daycare and grandma and the doctor visits and pharmacy visits were in full force. Of course she didn't breastfeed because that's too inconvenient, formula is so easy. The entire family smoked, and so of course baby girl had breathing problems and was given 'breathing' treatments.' One Friday night fellowship at our home, baby girl came with grandpa and grandma and danced and danced before the Lord and us as people played guitar and sang praises to the Lord. Thank you Lord for this sweet memory of this babe who came before you just as she was. At age 3, the mother found her body in her crib one morning. The autopsy said it was a brain aneurism, and nothing could have been done. I choked when I heard this and choke now writing it. Folks, this is another case of death by pharmaceuticals and a mother who preferred working and letting someone else raise her children. The mother Could have bathed her baby girl in love and the Word and breastfed her and stayed home with her and NOT given her baby toxic medications. May those of you with girls to influence give them a vision for MOTHERHOOD, it saves lives and brings JOY. And those of you with young men around, teach them the importance of providing for and encouraging women to raise their babies in the nurture and admonition of the Lord. Children are an heritage from the Lord. Lord forgive us. | | |
| Folks, if you haven't read this book yet, I highly recommend it.
In the book, the author goes through quite a few food additives and explains the effect of that chemical on the brain. P. 102 "MSG is categorized as an excitoxin, a chemical that causes a brain cell to become overexcited and fire uncontrollably. MSG (and other excitosins like aspartame) has the potential for inflicting permanent damage on a growing brain and nervous system. It is known that MSG and aspartame readily cross the placental barrier and can overstimulate the growing brain of the fetus." p.105 "There is a strong association between excitotoxin exposure and recepter sites in the brain, particularly dopamine receptor sites. Exposure to excitotoxins during early brain development affects dopamine receptors that may produce schizophrenic behavior later in life, and also addictive behaviours, violence, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), and other problems of the brain. The type of damage may express itself in various ways, depending on when exposure took place, whether there was adequate DHA in the brain developmental period, level of antioxidants, and so on, aside from genetic influence." Packaged Processed foods can contain hidden excitotoxins under the label 'natural flavors', It's not 'easier' in the long run to feed children convenience foods laced with neurotoxic flavorings and additives. Our culture is already reaping a bad crop from the many years of mothers and fathers not valueing the home and food lovingly prepared in the home in favor of synthetic poisons. Taking these malnourished kids and putting them on pharmaceuticals is nothing short of criminal. Mothers, feed your family Whole foods in as close to their natural state as possible. Summer's a great time to feast on fresh vegetables! My favorite salad dressing: 1/3 C extra virgin olive oil 1/4 tsp powdered ginger or 1" chunk fresh 2 T Eden organic Tamari sauce dash cayenne pepper 2 T fresh lemon or lime juice (or umeboshi vinegar) 2 tsp raw honey 1 tsp sesame seeds 1 T minced green onion or chives 2 garlic cloves crushed or minced) | | |
| years ago I realized that choosing to homeschool my own children meant that I finally was getting my own education in the process. It's amazing what you learn when you a) want to or b)have to. I've been using Young Living essential oils now for several years with amazing results in my mental, emotional, spiritual, and physical health. As I continue to share with others, they teach me and inspire me to keep learning. After experiencing some remarkable things in my own body from applying info in the book Releasing Emotional Patterns with Essential oils by Dr. Carolyn Mein, DC, I decided to look into chiropractic schools and what they teach. Discussing this with others in Young Living has resulted in several people advising me to check into Upper Cervical, so I did and found a neat video about the procedure: http://www.ucrf.org/# the video's down the page on the bottom right. We visited our favorite 'Boutique', the local Goodwill today and found some great buys: a $1 copy of a medical terminology book, a chemistry text for $1, and several dresses and a summer outfit for dd#2. I've been wanting a good medical terminology book, so I'm very thankful to find one so affordable! Let not the sun go down on your wrath, or: deal with your emotions BEFORE bedtime, don't stuff 'em and don't ignore 'em, Let the Light of Christ shine! | | |
| Hubby and I took a trip to St. Louis this past weekend and had a wonderful time. Though it's a bit of a drive (6 hours), it's a straight shot on I-44 all the way, so it's not bad. I hadn't known about how many manufacturers there seemed to be along that route. St. Louis is absolutely beautiful right now with it's rolling hills and trees. We thoroughly enjoyed and highly recomend the following: www.mobot.org I'd never seen a banyon tree nor such a huge Gingko Biloba, the veggie garden boasted lettuce to be envious of -- beautiful curly leafed red varieties have definitely provoked me to 'lettuce envy' :) and gorgeous broccoli and cabbages and espaliered pears and apples! We only saw a tiny fraction though we were there for hours. This is one supremely gorgeous collection of gargantuan gardens well worth the entrance fee! www.budweisertours.com www.nps.gov Forest Park is gorgeous, we parked the car there and took the metro to the Arch and back. On the way back, the Cardinals fans squished us in like sardines in the metro, but it was all great fun. Public transit really is a wonderful thing to have access to. This morning I was thinking about how my hubby and I met in the Army all those years ago and how one thing I liked about the military was the opportunity for travelling. The past few recent trips have been great after many years of NOT travelling, it's nice to have been able to go to Michigan and now St. Louis in less than a month. Blessings, Carrie who needs to weed her gardens now after all the rains, warm weather and traipsing off. Turnips and garlic are almost ready, roses are beautiful now, sage continues to bloom, clematis is blooming and climbing it's trellis, winter squash is on its 3rd set of leaves, lima bush beans just sprouted, carrots sprouted, cannas are extremely happy and prospering this year, climbing rapidly, hibiscus up about 3 feet, little apples on my first apple trees (planted just 2 years ago), lots of dill and oregano and thyme, little green tomatoes on a few plants, peppers growing, and the Lord watered everything last night for me. | | |
